the daily love

"The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment, it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone."
  Orison Swett Marden
I recently signed up for an email from "the daily love". every day, they send you an email with inspirational and motivational quotes. and they aren't really about love, but about loving yourself. I have a much healthier relationship with myself these days than I used to... but I am still human. I have days where I feel helpless and scared. days where I doubt myself. I don't care how happy and self-aware you claim to be, we can all use a little encouragement now and then.
"You gotta stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be."
Elizabeth Gilbert
in my life, I've known a lot of beautiful people (inside and out) who lacked self-confidence. who were afraid to be themselves, to follow their hearts and do what they loved. truly amazing people who were blinded, and saw nothing but flaws when they looked in the mirror.
"Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself."
William Faulkner
but I've also seen the power of words. the immense influence of even one small gesture of encouragement. the change that can happen when you frame things positively. the happiness you can find when you learn to open yourself up to love. the peace that comes from not only accepting, but embracing the flaws. the fulfillment in taking responsibility for your own life, not accepting the negative crap that people throw at you, and believing in yourself.
"Once you figure out who you are and what you love about yourself, I think it all kinda falls into place."
Jennifer Aniston
