1. finally getting a chance to shoot some holiday bokeh this year

 2. waking up every morning of vacation to a fresh pot of coffee, not made by me

 3. being a kid again: Twister, leaving cookies and milk for Santa, Legos and more

 4. Larry the dinosaur, who came in a box full of photo gear goodies from Husband

5. having a chance to play with aforementioned photo gear goodies, in a house full of natural light and photogenic cats, dogs, boys, and toys

friday five from the road

1. our flight was only an hour late out of Newark, and we made it to our final destination with all our luggage. truly, a Christmas miracle.
2. being back in the Midwest- not quite home but feels closer.
3. watching Husband wrestle with his nephews, and having them crawl into my lap to play games on the iPad. Christmas seems more real with children around.
4. vacation where flannel pajamas and day-old ponytails are acceptable dress code.
5. boxes of love, wrapped up in paper and string... put into the mail or under the tree.

friday five [in photos]

1. sparkly nails: Essie "set in stones" over "power clutch"

2. messy Friday hair

3. Beau deciding he would rather sleep under the tree than destroy it

4. crafting Christmas presents galore

5. dark chocolate peppermint bark. duh.

friday five

1. finally finding the perfect replacement moccasins. adorable. comfortable. 40% off. [I heart retail therapy.]

2. Outback Bowl game tickets. not quite as good as the Rose Bowl would have been, but my Dad is still awesome.

3. the way I feel when I eat gluten-free. it hasn’t been easy [and I haven’t completely followed it] but the difference is incredible.

4. remembering my Grandmother- the love that she gave us all, and the legacy she left behind. I’m thankful that I had the chance to know her while she was still in her right mind, and that those are the memories that will stay with me.

5. this whole “Friday five” thing. some weeks it feels like you could be overwhelmed by the bad, but this forces me to find the good. whether it’s something as tiny as a moment or as large as a person, the good is there, always.

friday five

this week flew by... taking a moment to stop and appreciate a few things that made me smile:

1. the lazy, folksy, perfect-to-drive-around-to sound of Jeff Bridges' album
2. finding an adorable pair of sparkly [yet super comfy] flats for my sister's wedding
3. news that my Dad finally qualified to run the Boston Marathon!
4. taking my geek to the next level and seeing this guy perform his 60 minute interpretation of the star wars trilogy. seriously. it was hilarious.
5. three. day. weekend.

friday five

five things I'm thankful for this week:
  1. enough light to run by last night at the canal
  2. Husband bringing dinner home when I have a bad day
  3. using the fireplace for the first time this season
  4. warm kittens that like to sleep on my cold toes
  5. the package that arrived tuesday... my new lens!

[the first] friday five!

I’ve decided to start a new thing on this blog. Every Friday,I’m going to share 5 things. Reasons to be happy about life, people who fill my love-cup, or just moments from the week that made me smile. I think it’s a good way to remember the small things in life that make it good, and to be thankful for what I have. Cheers!
