saturday morning ritual

saturday morning ritual.

breakfast + coffee. blogs + pinterest.
then blogging + more coffee.

it's a misty, grey morning here and I'm recovering from late night chicken wings and Spartan victory. my bracket was completely destroyed yesterday, but totally worth it to watch both Duke and Michigan lose, and South Florida win. it's certainly an interesting tournament this year. planning to head into the city this afternoon to perhaps watch a few games and get a little Irish. [and by "the city" I of course mean New York City. sorry, I'll probably do that for the rest of my life.]

bracketology

when picking brackets, I say:
be brave and go with your gut.

Sparty on.

8 years

eight years ago, the night of friday february 13th, I met a boy.
he walked me home from a party on beal street.
and I kissed him, under the beaumont tower.

we dated. we broke up. we dated. we broke up.
he moved halfway across the world.
I moved to another planet called manhattan.

he became a different person, so did I. we grew up.
and it just so happened that those two new people fell in love.

the point I try to make when I tell our story is this:
that night eight years ago, I didn't meet the love of my life.
I met the boy who would grow into that man.

love is not a static emotion.
the capacity to change creates endless opportunities to grow.

I found someone I can adventure with.

bowled over

I was lucky enough to take a trip to the Outback Bowl this year. the stars aligned that we played in the stadium my Uncle works at, and so we were able to tour the press box and watch the Spartans warm up from the field. I saw Dantonio sit in the bleachers and call his wife. I watched Cousins warm up for the last game of his college career. and I was nearly tackled by Worthy.

the game didn't start off so well, but we roared back at half time and eventually claimed victory in a thrilling triple overtime finish. the sunny Florida weather turned a chilly 45 as the shade crept over our side of the stands, but not a single Spartan left their seats. we all stayed and watched the players flood the field, and cheered each one of them on as they walked off in glory.

damn, I love being a Spartan.

a taste of home

last weekend Husband and I went back to East Lansing for the big football game... Michigan State vs University of Michigan. it turned out well for us [the Spartans won] and we had a great time, but it's always sad to leave again after a trip back home. a lot of my family and friends were back for last night's game vs Wisconsin [for that amazing ending] and I couldn't be there, so I decided to console myself this morning with editing my photos from the trip. I have a TON but these few walking around campus after the game might be my favorites.

there is no place like Michigan in the fall...
especially on a football Saturday.
